The Peter Schubert Society
Art connoisseurs and friends of the painter Peter Schubert met in the spring of 2008 to discuss how the extraordinary quality of his panel paintings and ceiling paintings could be brought to the attention of a wider public. It has become ever more difficult to maintain an overview of the contemporary art scene and the masterly works of Peter Schubert are not adequately appreciated by the general public, nor have they been officially documented. There have been numerous solo exhibitions in the past and now the aim of organizing a comprehensive retrospective of Peter Schubert's oeuvre has been formulated.
Since the organization and the financing necessary to set up this exhibition demand a legally regulated structure, we decided to found a registered society. This was achieved relatively quickly. In the autumn of 2008 contributions and membership fees were officially certified as tax deductible.
The long-term aims of the society, however, go well beyond the above-mentioned project. Article 2 of the Society’s rules reads as follows: »The aim of the Society is, in particular, to present the pictorial work of the Berlin artist Peter Schubert by means of public exhibitions, lectures and publications. Further aims lie in the archiving of his oeuvre, the supervision of his estate and the integrating of Peter Schubert's artistic output in the field of contemporary art.«
The success of the Peter Schubert Society depends on the dedicated work of the committee and the active participation of many members. We welcome all contacts and suggestions which help us fulfill our statutory aims.
